ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — St. Augustine is bracing for big crowds and big business.
The Gentlemen of the Road Tour featuring Mumford and Sons is two weekends away on September 13 and 14. It will be at Francis Field near downtown St. Augustine.
The folks at French Fry Heaven are banking on the idea thatMumford and Sons concert goers will like French fries.
Owner Dylan Rumrell smiled, “They love French fries. Who doesn’t love French fries?”
He has the small but popular business on St. George Street. He and many St. Augustine businesses are prepping for the Mumford and Sons concert this weekend.
“We’re getting extra staff, ordering extra food,” Rumrell said.
He’s preparing with nearly double the amount of food for a typical week.
“Normally we order 30 cases of fries a week. This coming week for Mumford and Sons, we’ll get 50 cases of fries which is what we normally go through on the 4th of July.”
The Fourth of July is the single busiest day of the year in St. Augustine, with crowds reportedly around 50,000 to 60,000 people.
25,000 tickets have been sold for this concert, but more people are expected to turn out, hoping to get in or be a part of the experience. It will last for two days, not just one like Independence Day.
