Many people look at competition as a fire-breathing dragon huffing and puffing down their back. You can’t look at it that way. Competition is a sign that you’re doing things right. If there was no competition then there’s nobody wanting to duplicate what you’ve done. French Fry Heaven is the original gourmet fry store here in America. In just a short time, copycats have sprung up all over. Even in our backyard of Florida, a place opened that copied us almost exactly including our menu. That says to me that we are on the right track.
Competition also keeps you on your sharpest tack. St. George would not be so famous if he didn’t have a sharp sword. And so it’s the same for us as we face our dragons, those who have little creativity, but money for mimicking. Competition keeps us awake, aware, sharp and ready for battle. Competition, and beating the heck out of competition, is part of the fun of business. Welcome completion; rally to the battle and celebrate your victory and their defeat. Unlike what is taught in today’s schools, there are winners and losers. To the victor goes the spoils!
Slay your dragons!
